Twin Cities MN plastic surgeon the first to use innovative staple technology
Dr Richard S Werner MD served as principal investigator on project
(FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE) — Dr. Richard S Werner, operator of a cosmetic and plastic surgery clinic in the Twin Cities, Minn. metro, is the first to use the subcuticular absorbable staple technology, heralded as the most significant wound closure advancement in over 30 years.

The wound closure, also known as the INSORB Absorable Skin Stapler, is remarkable for offering the speed of metal skin staplers, with the cosmetic results and comfort of absorbable sutures. The stapler uses bioabsorable staples that are placed under the skin and dissolved internally in a matter of months. There is no need for post-operative removals as these staples break down naturally.
Dr. Werner, who has operated his Minneapolis practice since 1979, was the principal investigator in 2003 for an Institutional Based Clinical Study of revolutionary wound closure modality. His role as principal investigator gave him the ability to be the first to use the technology, and allowed him to stay at the forefront and lead the way in surgical science advancements. Dr. Werner also provided input into research and development processes for improving wound closure technologies, now used globally in hundreds of thousands of procedures naturally.
