Spider Veins Treatment in Minneapolis

Sclerotherapy or vein injections is the non-surgical destruction of spider veins. This procedure can be used on a range of undesired veins on the thighs, legs, ankles and feet, including the reticular veins, found on the sides of your thighs; small varicose veins; and the classic spider veins.

Sclerotherapy entails the injection with a small needle of either saline or Sotradecol, an FDA-approved drug. Saline is less expensive, but is known to cause pain at the injection site, while Sotradecol is virtually pain free and more effective. Repeat injections are sometimes necessary.

Vein injections have changed little in the 50-plus years it's been utilized. Treatment will be discussed prior to the procedure. This will depend on the size of the veins, skin coloration, patient's age and other factors. Smoking will complicate recovery, and can result in skin injury.
